Yeah, peope treat social anxiety like it's something random and silly, and not a trauma from a toxic environment.

Nobody treats social anxiety as a possible consequence of trauma. For many it doesn't go away even if you learn how to act, your brain just short-circuits in social situations.

"Solitude is a peaceful state that allows you to go inward and visit yourself. Loneliness is stepping inside and realizing that no one is home."

Yeah, well, for many of us it's the relationships that initially damaged us. Starting with relationships with our parents, which became sort of an unhealthy template for all following relationships.

Don't be self-aware and you'll act natural - got it!

A psychotherapy Youtube guru urges to become dissociated in response to emotional manipulation? Wow! As if becoming dissociated doesn't carry its own set of ugly life problems, starting from the fact that emotions have strong linkage with our motivation, and inherently fueling our actions. What should be taught, instead of primitive dissociating from emotions (this trauma happens naturally in toxic environments), is emotional intelligence. Identifying and understanding yours and others emotions, their causes, what they are trying to tell, and sensing when someone is trying to manipulate your emotions and react appropriately.

From "how to get discipline" we moved the goalpost to "how to get resolve" :D

This whole argument assumes getting reassuring signals from other people...

Doc, please help me cognitively reframe my CPTSD. How did it make me better?

I think distracting yourself with such fancy stuff is taking attention from the core purpose of journaling: working through your thoughts and emotions.

I also had a thought that we need to connect more with outselves.

So, um, not everybody as psychotherapy clients deserves love?

Basically, and unsurprisingly, it's the same idea from stoicism of "dichotomy of control". Also, there lies a "wisdom" of accepting the things you can't control - it's useful to calm you mind. I take some issue with this line of thinking. Yes, it may be calming to an individual to accept many external things they can't control. But it also breeds obedience. It's conservative. The truth is, however, while people can't control many external things and outcomes they can still influence or affect them. Especially on a collective, societal rather than individual level. Life is not balck and white: either you have control or you don't. It has wide range of probabilities in between.

Skill of argument — rhetoric. Rhetoric ≠ logic.

Not a "scattered mind" but a "parallelized mind". Multitasking is the name of the modern game. I regularly play good old Brood War RTS as a brain training in multitasking.

Basically, journaling helps you to work through you thought and emotions, via externalising, analyzing and developing them.
