  1. To use search you must know exactly what you are looking for beforehand. While hierarchical data structure (e.g. folders) allows you to browse and see parent/child relations.

  2.  @BrodieRobertson  Google search, and applying AI maybe. But it's still limited AFAIK. And search doesn't show relations.

  3.  @billeterk  Kind of. Hierarchies are build on many to one relations. While tags is inherently many to many relations. For human mind it's simpliest to visualize and comprehend parent/child hierarchies. While "many to many" would result in a complex graph.
