Fireship advertises AI tools while talking about AI corporations machinations, truly dystopian times.

Abstractions: "We need to go deeper"

@LeoVital We don't know when exactly will that happen. I don't believe we will see AGI level smarts any time soon. Because we still use the same AI generative model fundamentally (transformers) for years, all the progress for now hinges on making it bigger and/or feeding it refined learning data. We'd need a fundamental breakthrough to move forward.

Programmer jobs will remain, but the job market will shrink, because with AI tools the remaining at the job programmers will have to increase their productivity and do much more.

You can keep it as a hobby 😃 And get a plumber job
14
@Luggruff nice conspiracy

Text prompt programming. Is definitely gonna be a thing. We'll need more powerful machines to run this code as it won't be very optimized me thinks. And we'll also need to invent a special AI to debug the whole mess.

Hardware is not the best.

AI is not reliable right now. But it's going to be made more reliable in the future, and then many jobs would be at a real risk. You know the writing on the wall. What these AI engineers are doing is making humans obsolete, at least in the capitalist system. We already have overproduction problems in capitalism - people can't realistically buy to consume everything that's being produced. With the emergence of the new AI automation, and the massive loss of jobs, the overproduction crisis would hit the economies hard. And the only solution that the capitalist system would be able to offer is to get rid of unnecessary people. Physically.

generate absorb billions of dollars FTFY

Coupling format with syntax was a profoundly shortsighted idea. It creates more problems than it solves.
6
Lua is scripting language, except that Lua has one of the best JIT compiler making it run almost as fast as native C.
6
Just like text 2 picture AI revolution, I envision the programming AI will need a supervision of a professional to generate suitable code. For the time being it will be used as a productivity accelerator of existing programmers. That is until it becomes refined enough to completely supplant programmers. Then only architects will remain who will prompt the AI. Then AI will supplant architects. Then the Matrix.
5
Yeah, that's what programmers are reduced to: finding exploits in AI algorithms.

"Let them fight"

In the last century there was already an AI boom and bust. Same as 3D movies, and VR headsets.

@Blast-Forward Inception reference, woosh.

Why only Europeans make pro-consumer laws, while US doesn't?
3
We're riding the hype wave.

0:55 This guy is Elon Musk's long lost cousin.
2
AI Doom gameplay would trully be nightmare fuel
2
The guy unironically promotes yet another JS framework?
2
AI will replace code monkey jobs, that's for sure.
2
Home automation was my first application thought while watching this video. But then again, you'd have to wear this thing, which is not too convenient. Let's wait when they miniaturize this device.
2
They should first fully replace the car driver, then we'll talk about fuly replacing a software engineer.
2
Now we're at the cycle's stage where devs start to care about optimizing performance?
2
@charlesm.2604 Making the client's browser run less JS is already an optimization. Actually it would be a breath of fresh air after the JS gluttony phase we went through. And devs can optimize performance by other means too. Ever wandered into Chrome DevTools profiling?
2
@rawrrewind9052 I recommend to chill about the whole situation. It's not the end of the universe, yet ) "We suffer more often in imagination than in reality" — Seneca
2
"Jack of all trades, master of none", — as the saying goes. JS historically is a crutch language. And since the early days beginner web devs wanted to use it for everything, cause the didn't know better. True story.
2
@RyanGrissett Or as usual, financially intetested parties are blowing things out of proportions.
2
People feared Skynet, but world will be drowned in AI slop instead
2
Finally, "a JS framework to end all JS frameworks"!

Serving people, for free, under capitalism?

OpenAI is losing the leading position, so it runs to the government asking for regulations...

Optimistic outlook!

When there is competition ethics inevitably fly out the window.

This video is gold!

Pretty sure the last idea was brought on big screen already not long ago. Called 'Swan Song'.
1
@drstranger99 A capitalist society where nobody works cannot exist. When people don't work they don't get payed. People without money can't buy what capitalists produced. Overproduction and collapse imminent. No, people don't generally get violent out of boredom.
1
Soyscript to every device!
1
Glorified toy language :p
1
@rawrrewind9052 It's a tool. But it's gonna be used for replacement (read: cutting costs), rather than enhancing.
1
@rawrrewind9052 Learn plumbing )
1
@rawrrewind9052 nope
1
@clavarx11 Be real, there are already specialized application for each purpose, no need to slap on a computationally expensive general solution like Gemini.
1
OpenWRT - free open source firmware for many SOHO routers also employs Lua for the WEB UI, thanks to its small footprint.
