Kim O'Brien he plead guilty. He did not make a "not guilty" claim because they had him dead to rights. That they offered a plea deal and he accepted it is the only reason he did not do real jail time. He was overtly wrong about there being no other jail sentences for this crime. But then lying is his whole job, this should not be a shock. The travesty here is not that he was charged and convicted, it is the empty partisan pretension that he did nothing wrong or was unfairly treated for his confessed criminal actions.

The failure of unregulated campaign finance is not a not a statement on how bad our judgement is at all. It speaks to the incentives our leaders. It is a problem because it sets up the priorities for our leaders to work for the highest bidder and not their voters. You are not given a choice at all as every option you have is equally corrupt or unknown to most voters. If it is legal to buy our leaders we will always be asked to vote for the lessor evil and not the good.

You are basically in favor of legal bribes if you oppose campaign fiance. This is what we get when we leave our leaders for sale. You have a corporate neo-con beholden faux left 'centrist' or in other words a 90's republican. Against a faux populist right winger (former lefty) who promises change and to make america great again. He then breaks most of his promises and brings in the same corrupt characters who have been he root of our problems since day one. (remind you of anyone else?) We have no choice on the left or the right. Our choices were down to a self serving, self righteous sellout and a guy who says anything and then just does what ever he wants with no fall out. Trump is serving his donors (and himself) in a way Hillary would not have been allowed to get away with even as should would have loved to. BOTH choices are cancer if you are principled on the left or right. They are a direct product of the same corruption, Campaign finance would solve both problems. There is no reason to support anyone bribing your leaders.

When one of those assholes is caught in one of the few laws left to stop shills from buying our leaders so badly he has to plead guilty I do not think he should be pardoned.
