  621.  @Bruintjebeer6  I am not inclined to agree. They could regulate the service as a utility much like they to with phone companies and internet providers. They primarily need to mandate a clearly posted creator standards and transparency in their ranking / recommendation system allowing creators to better market their content. Additionally legislators would need to require a third party appeal process for strikes and bans. All of that is doable and would fall under existing precedence of law on challenge. We are talking about a business that now touches all of our lives. We need to consider if the profit motive alone should be guiding the policies and principles these types of sites get to set. At the very least we should be mandidating they be transparent in their business practices as they reach almost everyone these days.

  622.  @Bruintjebeer6  Not True. We make rules about how business can function and what the basic requirements are all time. Public companies have to open thier books. Phone and internet companies have regarded requirements to ensure consistantly and access the service provides. There is litteraly no reason we could not wrap rules around memberships, transparency and appeals to bans. If there is the political will to do so is.entierly another matter. That is going to require more work. Talking about the fact it is an option is a start.

None of these regulations step on any innate rights. They could pass rules to control the industries further but do not for the very reasons you outlined. They are bought and sold by the very industries we ask them to regulate. We are stopped by corruption not what we "can" do.

  640.  @bubbiesdad  They are not universal and can be end run by going a county over. We need these rules to be country wide so they can not be circumvented with a short drive. What does not help normal people are gun show loop holes and ways to buy guns without background checks. That we have good laws in a few places means little if they have gun anarchy the next state over. There is no downside to stringent background checks and the only ones they hurt are criminals and the insane. I am cool if they do not get weapons.

We just need to extend and demand these standards going forward. That alone is enough to warrant a public health mandate to get it. Those who do not get it need to face limitations in the same way Mennonites who choose not to drive do. It was never expected to be 100% Depending on how you define long term there have been numerous studies. In any case there have been more studies and mass trials on this format of vaccine than the one we wiped out polio or small pox with before widely distubting them. The idea any concerns about the inoculation outweigh the danger of contracting the virus are ovetly base ignorant.
