@smoogles.5534 Pretending all doctors are part of some vast conspiracy and that virus's are not real is actually unhinged. Being overtly ignorant must be high value to you. Looking at the evidence is what is important to me and being randomly contradictory for good feels is something I left behind in my teens. It is the anti science clowns that have been weaponized, your ilk are not informed or special. You are just another dupe parroting nonsense for good feels. Stop pretending to be superior or informed, you are clearly neither.

@scpower That you have found a couple studies that validate your preconceptions does not make you learned. You are not parroting any kind of consensus which is what has value in the scientific world. When you pretend the consensus of the experts in the scientific community on any given subject are entirely wrong for good feels that is literally actually anti science.

I would argue it your overt ignorance that is the root of the problem.

@fringeminority5676 Stop using the sources you choose, no one is who is making medical tests is evil. Just stop letting these cranks into your head.
4
So far, take a look at the break between blue and red states in the US. The difference is very very very telling.
3
@johngibson821 No one you know considers you really bright or informed, let it sink in why.
3
Mitch Virtually no one is regretting it .. just saying.
3
@franklinfleming1237 As a spreader of misinformation you make your point by telling half the story. When processed a lab PCR tests are very accurate, when done outside a lab they are less so. No test is 50/50, any kind of random test is that accurate by raw probability alone.
3
No I will not.. It will be anti-vaxers and ludities lied into a swamp of their own choosing for good feels.
3
You are just a future statistic waiting to happen. The last people to get polio decided they did not want that vaccine either.
3
@dickenstom It goes from being a novel virus wildly circulating in an unprotected population to a virus we have herd immunity to that keeps it in check. It becomes far less deadly to those protected and ensures they catch it less easily. It will never go away but will shrink to being like a flu, not the pernicious elder killer it is today.
2
Mostly unvaccinated ...
2
@originalAtreyu Again it is not just hospitalizations that are the problem. It that we have large communities with virus in wide unrestricted circulation leading to the rise of new variants end running protections. Why do you imagine our heath care system is not treating Covid patients with drugs? I would be very surprised if Canadians were randomly behind the curve on that front.
2
@originalAtreyu In your imagined scenario the virus does not transmit as regularly or as dangerously when it does transfer without protection. As variants step outside the protection of the inoculation under this managed case the virus becomes much more akin to more traditional flu in severity and transmissibility. Dangerous or more virulent variants can be addressed with boosters as they are in the case of many other vaccines. As it stands we have a vast unprotected pool of people for it to breed quickly spread and worse mutate to become more dangerous unchecked. We have beaten virus's before or brought them into check, so we can with this. That path is science, not burying our head in the sand.
2
I despair for humanity that anyone could think what you do ....
2
@wehehe7094 The people now dying by the thousands daily are unvaccinated.
2
Worst case you get a false positive ... the FDA standards are not higher than Canadian ones by the way.
2
@franklinfleming1237 Well that is not what anyone else says. A 50/50 test is entirely pointless as drinking a glass of water would give you the same probability of getting the answer right.
2
@franklinfleming1237 I looked up what you are discussing but the assertion of 50% accuracy is illusory. The tests results vary depending on how common the the virus is in the population. For example, in a population where the prevalence is 5%, a test with 90% sensitivity and 95% specificity will yield a positive predictive value of 49%. In other words, less than half of those testing positive will truly have antibodies Alternatively, the same test in a population with an antibody prevalence exceeding 52% will yield a positive predictive greater than 95%, meaning that less than one in 20 people testing positive will have a false positive test result. The 50% number is correct in one case and not not in the second. The variability of the usefulness of the test depends on the sampled population is the issue, not the test itself.
2
You are a not on to anything, you have been lied into a little box that justifies your anger with asserted ignorant statements. Ignoring doctors to own the libs is not so sharp but go for it you Darwin award nominee ..
2
Your assertion about BC's numbers does not appear valid. They are about the same numbers as the Canadian average who have pretty high rates of inoculation even if they got them later than the americans did because of supply. 80% is the heard immunity number and they are currently at 56%+ of people double vaccinated so they have not hit heard immunity threshold. Even when they are it will not offer 100% protection and some people will still get it even if protected. Those who have the jab will get it less easily and less severely than those with out. That is the promise of getting the shot, the more that get the better we will have control over the spread and proliferation of the virus.
1
@originalAtreyu The focus on vaccination is apt as the other options see our hospitals overflow and elders die or our economies stagnating. The jobs question is up in the air but being anti vax is not longer a quaint foible as it was so recently. It has real world ramifications for the health and safety of those around the individual in question. There is a balancing act to be had on how vaccination is implemented. The concerns around the lack of data on these vaccines in key areas are valid. That being said I do not see those issues overriding the value of gaining artificial immunity to slow spread and mitigate infection even if that is all it achieves. We have done mass vaccinations before with far less public concern over the nature and the potential downsides of the vaccine. We wiped out Polio and small pox doing so. I have little doubt that a modern analysis of those vaccines would find them wanting, I say their results speak for themselves. From any angle I look the risks to getting vaccinated are far lower than the real world dangers with not having protection. This is a novel virus very few if any have natural defenses against. Vaccination or mass casualties are our choices.

Saying ignorant things makes you look ignorant .. your statement is next level brain dead.
1
Derp!
1
Mitch A small number compared to millions dead or permanently scared from the virus.
1
@CUBKITS It is a bad thing if it used to put off getting the shot which has real world ramifications to your health and the health of those around you.
1
So basically every single statistician who ever lived?
1
@fringeminority5676 Stop lying to yourself, you go on your gut and do not trust professionals instead pick and choosing based on your feels not anything else. You have to look really really hard to find any "medical professionals" that agree with you. The ones that sell your nonsense are snake oil salesmen that say things you like, nothing more. Data is not and almost never is on your side. You can tell yourself that it is but that does not change anything.
1
@Franklin Fleming You are only getting half the story. That is why you need to scratch past the surface of all these claims to understand them. That they did not explain it to you does not mean there is no explanation.
1
@franklinfleming1237 The people who had issues were a drop in the bucket. The fact is the governments actions on the drug prove that the system values lives and it is not an example of failure but how they exercising an abundance of caution. You are clueless, I would expect no less from a NPC who thinks a communist world take over is in play.
