Taxing gains over a certain value only makes sense to me. when we are talking billions of dollars it is impossible to say the individual earned that money especially in the face of an economy where many have nothing through no fault of their own.. The value of stocks are speculative but at any given moment are actual and realizable. They part of your net worth in any other business context and are treated as tangible assets with rearguard to your credit or any other financial metric. Taxing on wealth and not just income is not a new concept and needs to be looked at much more seriously. We have crafted a system where gains like this at the cost of all of us made exempt from taxation empowering the cycle of income inequality that holds us so firmly now.

It is worth noting it was the cons that dusted Canadian capacity. History has shown there is no form of canadain innovation the cons are not willing to sacrifice for more cash to thier buddies. That both major parties are deeply terrible on this issue does not change the fact it was the cons that sold this ability off. Selling of necessary parts of the country to the highest bidder historically is a con goto move. I personally blame the cons because they are consistantly hand everything they can to mercenary mulitaional industry at the cost of actual Canadians. Happy well adjusted people are less susceptible to ideas like racism than those who are struggling and looking for scapegoat. Racism is addressed by experience and the lower your economic status the less experience you are likely to have trapping you in old the preconceptions of other immobile people. Will it eliminate racism? No. But it would go a long way to addressing the financial and resulting social angst that is harvested in it's promotion.
