@JohnPrepuce "whereas it's only like 17 bucks for greens fees here in some areas. There are plenty of other examples too. " Good, because golf courses are just another piece of hostile architecture that ruins both green spaces, environmental ambitions and makes a mayhem of zoning and local politics. Few other "hobbies" turn over as little funds, ruins as much, while not even being useful in keeping the participants fit. Plenty of material there to make videos from.

Crocoduck Noted. Mind you, not all of Europe is great architecture. However, in a majority of Europe, even hideous suburban offfice parks and low rent mall spaces are generally required to have bicycle paths and walking paths interconnecting. The system works because the legislation makes demands on the capitalism to a greater extent than capitalism manages to influence legislation. EDIT: We also haven't started with warfare against the poor. We generally do not regard them as the root of all evil.

@aabb55777 Do you GO to the state park or do you have to get in a car first to go running? If it is the latter, the place is poorly planned indeed.
28
@aabb55777 "somewhere where the largest park us smaller than a golf course." Golf courses come in all sizes. The inner city parks here tend to be bigger. Nothing you have stated is an adequate response to what I stated. Golf courses are more often than not hostile architecture, for the aforementioned reasons. Besides, it's a pastime for douches (Alice Cooper excepted)

@first last Can one explain away your non sequitur by pointing to the fact that you appear to lack functional literacy?
18
Crocoduck Sorry about that. And yes, it is well known that it expensive to be poor. The opportunities lost when one can not even be in the right place at the right time, phew. Sucks.
17
Thank f k it's Canada. The comments will be full of 1000 upset US murikans otherwise. Canadians deal with critique much better

@aabb55777 "what I gather from you" "the pursuit of happiness is not something you are willing to allow others" "your unhappiness" "Meanwhile well adjusted people" Was it all that time in the fresh air that made you discover the beauty of ad hominems and the incoherent argument? This channel must really annoy to the max. All that logic getting in the way of you turning everything you travel through into an environmental and humane disaster. I suggest you put a pinball game on your porch if you have an uncontrollable urge to put balls in holes.

It's like you didn't watch the video at all.

@caseycowley4686 He deals with cars too, so you obviously did not watch the video(s). Beyond stupid comment. Cities change due to city planning, which incidentally is the topic of the channel, snowflake.

@dawsonchurch5872 "don't care golf's fun" So are lots of other hobbies that are a blight for the rest of society. That you "don't care" says more about you than me. "More importantly you going to ban golf?" In what alternate reality would I have the ability to do that? Honest question.

I think you are a bit confused about the purpose of this creator's mission. This is largely an opinion piece, and he is giving you his opinion. This is not a scientific paper. You are also a bit confused about the concept of "ultra nationalism", and also a bit geographically challenged when you claim that The Netherlands is a country with "very few people in it". Let me gues, you're some kind of murikan "patriot"?
5
The giant pole in the middle of the narrow sidewalk was easily the worst part. 20:40 WTF were they thinking?
5
It is not a research paper, so it does not matter if it is bias (sic). He does not need to show an opposing view to his claim that these roads are expensive/unsafe/inefficient etc. If he had a fitness channel, would you expect him to represent the "stay on the couch and eat candy" angle too?
5
"one of the first things people associate with America, after apple pie...." Always so amused by the notion that non-murikuns would associate your country with apples, in a pie. You even had to wait for us to bring good apples to your continent, before you had the ability to make a pie of them. Nobody that lives in an apple growing country outside of the US sits down and thinks "oh this is so American" before tasting an apple pie. It has never happened. Sounds like something some ad-peddling murikun thought up, in the 1950s or so.

@strange-universe You could read the scientific papers on the environmental aspect of golf courses, and try to grok the finer aspects of them replacing untouched areas, and being in the way of any normal state of affairs unless placed in extremely remote and under-utilised places, but you don't care. I am 99% certain that you are a Bubba Murikun from some flyover zone with no sign of intelligent human life, and environmental concerns (as well as any other concern) about the planet are a joke to you. Look at your channel. It is 100% a cliché of a mouth breather. Besides, you probably should not be calling other people "kid" when you yourself use "lol" in written text. Judging by your body of work, the only kid here is you.
5
@mikerj Wow! I sure hope you don't look like your profile pic.

786k views says somebody "care". Do you view public seating as mainly an interest of white women?
4
@bumpygumpson You're probably just another sociopath, so you do not actually have feelings either way.
4
@daelbows5783 Maybe you will have an epiphany one day and change something? :)
3
@pat9353 I will repeat what I told the other guy ". Besides, his rants are not about the USA as a whole. If you look at his body of work, he does show what in his opinion are the worst cases and the best cases in the nation" Replace USA with North America in the above sentence. He does not say what you think he says. If you feel that he does, please provide a time stamp.

You know, you could just add more buildings between the buildings that are far apart, thereby making them closer together. You literally thought that moving them was what the "dumb" creator had in mind? That is quite dumb.
3
@Thelonious0411 The "building close together" comment was an answer to the bizarre comment of the OP about moving houses around. Why would your city be terrible to get around without stroads? Sounds like more excuses for poor planning.
3
@pat9353 You piqued my curiosity now so I did check that out. Indeed an eyesore. And with only 3000 population, the place makes no sense. You could fit your entire population, on foot, in the Super 8 parking lot. It is like the place was planned for 100K people. Doesn't the wind that blow through the spaces between those houses kill people in the winter? I think I'd rather be on the deck of an oil tanker in a storm. Hope you make good money up there. Cash out and move to The Netherlands, or Boston, or something :)
2
That is insane. There must be deaths resulting from that.
2
Lots of people on this forum state that not all of US is like this, so I am sure they will pop in to tell you where to live.
2
@randomchick1398 I hear you. But if you ever do decide to learn, it is a major kick. Wear a helmet and try it on a soft lawn? Do it far away from people = no performance anxiety. I've always been a regular cyclist since I was a kid, but just last year I got a fancy bike. 28 gears and very fast both on and off the road. Now I do 100km rides in a day, and I lost 5kg. Breathing improves a lot, energy too. It is an allround life improvement.
2
@FireController1847 Tenacious diatribe. Since his audience is adult, they are perfectly capable to dissent without having the dissent shoved down their throats in the same piece of media. Besides, his rants are not about the USA as a whole. If you look at his body of work, he does show what in his opinion are the worst cases and the best cases in the nation, so that part of your argument is also null and void.
2
@rambleon3698 But The Netherlands as a whole ranks 8th in least road traffic deaths in the world, so I guess they do something right. Amsterdam isn't really built for cars though, considering that it is on islands and the houses are 400 years old
2
"Does anyone in the Netherlands drive 300+ km one way in one go?" Is that a trick question? Of course they do. If they drive straight they end up in another country though. I assume many delivery drivers drive 300km every day.

A balance issue? Not enough stamina? Social stigma?

You are contradicting yourself in a single sentence.
