Russia can not afford to win, nor lose. Winning would involve going all the way to the Polish border and imprisoning millions. Losing would be to give up. In both cases they will be stuck with a rebuilding bill and a support bill they can not afford. It is pretty simple if you think about it. Only Putin believes outdated industries and a bunch of alcoholics are a resource. They are not. Stalin would not have fallen for that fantasy.
