"In Yekaterinburg, butter for more than 200 rubles is sold in protective cases. The next stage is the sale of coupons," Ksenia Sobchak published such a statement on her telegram channel on October 24. The ex-presidential candidate also named a specific store: the Kirovsky supermarket. This chain, associated with Sverdlovsk State Duma deputy Igor Kovpak, is known in the Urals as an alternative to Pyaterochka - many products are even cheaper here.
I come to Kirovsky the day after Sobchak's post. And, it would seem, I immediately get confirmation of her words: on the shelves with dairy products there are cheeses, yogurts, kefir, cottage cheese, even ayran, and only there is no butter on them. For several minutes I rush between the rows, trying to understand: maybe my eyesight fails? In the end, I doomedly approached the seller: "Tell me, where is your butter?"
And indeed, here they are, rows of packages: locally produced, made in Moscow, butter from Oryol, from the Leningrad region. From 190 to 290 rubles for 180 grams. But all of it - which is true - is closed in protective boxes. The inscription on one of them reads: "Dear customers! The product can be removed from this package at the checkout."
