  1. It's also a very under/misrepresented fact in all nations' war histories. It is far easier to take 20 men with no history of war and train them to consistently throw fairly accurately, 1/4-1/3lb stones (I think I read 1/2lb was Rome's reference) which can be gathered in mind-boggling numbers near anywhere. Stone throwing preceded this skill, and even teenage boys can assist in a small skirmish with fatal results.
