  2. It was the competitive pressure/time line to offer a plane to match Airbus. The commercial plane market moves faster then the ability to provide the perfect jet.... This didn't allow designing an all new plane to match the larger more efficient engines that are now available. The software glitch was only a temporary patch for the old airframe design...

  3. Computers fly planes more each year. They should just eliminate the pilots and go full autonomous.... that is where it is all headed anyway. That's the future..

  4.  @SauberC10  i don't want a pilot flying a plane I'm on. Modern aircraft will be autonomous. Pilots are not needed. The human limitations/ factors have been surpassed by technology a long time ago. Only government regulations are holding back the advancement of fully autonomous commercial flight. Boeing is working with the FAA to certify 1 pilot commercial aircraft. Zero pilot will be next. Everything can be done with technology. Nothing is out of the reach of more automation. No job will be performed by a human that is better suited for a machine.
