@cmcm5878 sounds like a strong argument for population control. Technology has allowed the world to prosper so far in ways unimaginable only a 100 or so years ago... for sure, the limits haven't been reached yet. Even the prospect of living on other plants is realistic.

@michaelholthaus2207 we are all wealthy in many ways. There are more material things in our lives than ever before. We live much longer than at any known time on earth. Society is safer and conflicts are actually manageable. The world now is a better place than in the past 1,000 years.... no body is being burned at the stake for their beliefs or thrown to lions for entertainment. History bears this out. I can sit and entertain myself on a smart phone for hours on end and write comments like this all day long. Just like 1 billion other people on earth. Life is pretty good in retrospect. My ancestors would be proud.

@cloroxbleach7377 we aren't in a race against nature. Even if everything on earth was destroyed. Life would blossom again as it has in the past with a fresh mix of flora and fauna on a planet that still has some 2.5 billion years of sunshine left to go. It's not as bad as it seems. You have to look at the long game, the real real long game....
