No they aren't, or I guess it depends on who makes them for what market... in the US they are safe, of course

No wonder Mexicans are so tolerant of the drug cartels, they are real life heros to everyday citizens.

@hansm8688 cultural acceptance/acclimation of/to violence. Society is willing to pay for viewing it. At the core, each society values life to different degrees.

@hansm8688 the government has the power to protect it's people. It's part of their job description. What they get paid to do. They are suppose to build trust and ensure the nations police forces are doing an adequate job. To "reduce" the perpetual corruption that blocks the whole countries path to 1st world status. Obviously, The status quo hasn't been working too well. Didn't the military just take over Alcopulcos entire police force? No one can keep score on who to trust. Least of all the tourists....

@hansm8688 it's a chicken vs egg situation. Which came 1st? The drug cartels bribery offer or the acceptance of bribes by the government? Drug cartels only go back a few decades.. Culturally accepted corruption by Mexican society goes back much farther....one serious root problem is the lack of trust among their own people. So does one stay and attempt to be part of a solution or just pack up and leave the country? We know what a lot of people do these days.

They pay to see fake violence when the real thing is just outside their homes in the streets and towns....?
