I stated that earlier on this page the right loves the economic concepts that come from libertarianism
1
Edward Black no republicans love the ideas about low taxes, cutting welfare entitlements , and free market capitalism

devin devine we have protections with the private sector too you can walk away from their product or their store
1
Crouchy232323 "the choice to walk away from their store or product is limited" but not impossible
1
devin devine I think a veto is a protection It gives you some control' and a way to separate yourself from that company
1
devin devine " I do not agree that it is a sufficient protection" no company can make me buy anything that's all the protection I need

Crouchy232323 a'We've all got to eat and feed our kids " what does that have to do with anything?

MyNameIsBucket "The most prosperous countries (i.e. prosperous for all, not just the most profitable) are mixed-market economies with sound regulations and comprehensive social programs paid for by progressive taxes." except America where most of the wealth is held buy a small group of people

MyNameIsBucket "Libertarians want to pretend that Somalia isn't the culmination of their ideals because there isn't a president in charge with (L) next to his name" Somalia has been so unstable in the last 20 years that it's hard to tell what their current societal structure is from 91 to 2004 Somalia was a true stateless society and could not be compared to Libertarian ideal which requires some type of government.( preferably a centralized one ) and some way of enforcing laws regarding civil liberties. Somalia had no central government, no constitution and no way to pay for a government from 2004 to 2012 they had a transitional government in the last two years it has gone from the transitional government to a more traditional government with a parliament and a constitution it at least appears to be headed toward a more traditional republic but that remains to be seen

***** "yet all they want is for their far-right crank party to be in power just for the satisfaction of seeing (L) on the TV." Libertarianism comes from the left not from the right they are far left on civil liberties which define a philosophy
1
MyNameIsBucket what social programs have been gutted? our tax system is as progressive as ever what's not progressive about the tax system? "The Libertarian Party is a compromise of ideals, much like today's Socialist Party. If there is a sustainable balance between two extremes (and historical precedent suggests that's the sanest route), it's FAR to the left of anything Libertarians are willing to concede." I have so many problems with this paragraph I don't know where to start where is the Libertarian party compromising the only thing farther to the left than Libertarianism is anarchy
1
MyNameIsBucket ": what happens to a leftist philosophy when it refuses to evolve along with three hundred years of societal and scientific progress" what are you calling societal and scientific progress ? I think what you call progress might not be progress just change
1
judyleasugar97 " The only thing standing in the way is the government you hate so much" when it comes to violence we need protection from the regular citizens who might declare themselves overlord of a community but we need protection against a dictatorial government that will violate our rights and possibly place in servitude for acts that should be legal. Or use discrimination itself
1
Crouchy232323 " What kind of discrimination?........ You get my point? There are only so many hours in a day." American history is replete wth examples of discrimination by government: Jim Crow bans on women voting bans on interracial marriage ban on gays in the military I can go on for 15 minutes

Crouchy232323 "Why should a company make a profit off of someone contracting cancer" we live under capitalism
1
Crouchy232323 "That isn't capitalism" why not?
1
Crouchy232323 the profit is not in the person contracting cancer it is in the treatment of the cancer
1
Crouchy232323 " As soon as they do, profit becomes involved and an incentive" as soon as they come in for treatment it becomes a profit for someone either way you admit there is a profit so that makes it a capitalistic endeavor
1
Crouchy232323 contracting cancer is not an industry treating cancer is an industry
