I believe, they/your bank will try to sell their assets/debts to other companies, financial institutions. Who ever took over, that will be your new lender ,creditor.

@corf48 The problem with investing right now is a little tricky. Usually people /opportunists will take full advantage of the chaotic situations when everyone are looking for ways/safer place to put their money in . I Personally think that, unless you buy properties with that money, you might as well put it under your mattress, so to speak . Yes, a lot of people will say, buy Gold, silver etc . Unless you can literally purchase physical Gold/gold bars. You cannot guarantee that a piece of paper that says you have purchased such and such amount of gold is really yours.

@nickm2400 About the same here in the UK /residential mortgage rates. Nearly 6% for BTL . It'll cripple a lot of people . Hard time coming, no doubt.

Make sure you haven't got more than 85 thousand in that particular bank . If you have, best to move it into a different bank . Make sure your next bank is not under the same umbrella as your present bank . Or you'll be well and truly skewed.
