@ScarletMarie0007 I have never considered the weird chemical smell from ketoacidosis, to smell like that of alcohol. There is an unusual medical condition where a person's own gut will ferment certain juices or foods, and they become intoxicated and smell of alcohol bc the auto brewery syndrome creates the ETOH and smell.

@mikel6237 I'm sorry for your loss. Many people don't realize that if the body can't filter toxins, the person will become less lucid, as the brain fog builds from the blood not being cleaned. Some drugs like Lactulose can help w eliminating toxins like ammonia. Sometimes mechanical filtration is needed eg kidney dialysis for renal disease. It's not your fault if you didn't realize what was occurring.

@jacobott3382 Jacob you can sometines smell a similar odor from people on keto diets, due to them being in ketosis. If they reach ketoacidosis, it is v noticeable and dangerous. Maybe your mother controls her BG better than most, and it smells different for different people. You should look into the symptoms in case your mother experiences it while you are w her, so that you can help instead of being blind to it.
