My first year of nursing I worked nights and my patient told me that a doctor woke her up to berate her as to why she was taking so long to leave the hospital (gangrenous appendix due to her insurance denying her a visit for sudden pain). Her doctor didn't work nights, it was Kaiser's 'doctor' sent from the ins co.

  2. ​ @EIfric the Mangione name is on a NICU wing at the first hospital I worked in (GBMC). That hospital was VERY shady eg has a raffle to win a new Mercedes that is donated each year. For the year that I was there and the 2 years prior, the president of the hospital and 2 of his relatives were the winners. Tickets were $100 each and supposedly a minimal amount are for sale, yet the higher-ups are allowed to partake.
