  1. Alzheimer's, dementia, and similar are amongst the worst ways to die. I had to work on Alzheimer's units, and had to stop. Eventually they forget how to swallow and the family has to decide on v tough decisions. A living will should be required for people still lucid when first diagnosed. They should also be aware of available choices like those that Switzerland's Dignitas may provide.
