Now is the time for Australia to take the step we should've taken on 1st January, 1901, TO DECLARE THE REPUBLIC OF AUSTRALIA!!! Australia came about as a dumping ground for Britain's unwanted lower classes who were persecuted for simply trying to live in that fetid atmosphere of privilege only to the so-called "upper-classes", of which royalty was at the top. Australia should REMEMBER the circumstances of its "birth" and DESPISE aristocracy. As for Mrs Elizabeth Windsor, only here immediate family should be the ones to mourn for her. It wasn't Channel 7 that made the report, it was Station HSV-Melbourne. Ch.7 is no more than a chunk of spectrum space. It has absolutely no physical presence whatsoever.

S Pappas I wouldn't want the Liberals in Victoria or anywhere, any more than you do. Having them in office here in NSW is bad enough, But Andrews has failed dismally in his role as Premier of Victoria for the way he's handled the Covid situation, and scapegoating Jenny Mikakos for it, Andrews deserves to be out of parliament with the State Governor's size-10 boot up his clacker.

Demonstrations are part of BASIC CIVIL RIGHTS and DO NOT need a cop's "permission" to go ahead. The medical staff that attended this rally were very likely FED UP with the TREASONOUS INCOMPETENCE of this NSW state government and the UTTER IMBECILES of the Liberal party! To the State Governor, I call on you to SACK THIS GOVERNMENT NOW!

@MilkySubstance The channel makes NOTHING, THE STATION makes and broadcasts the shows. Crediting the channel for the shows is like crediting the canvas for an artwork and totally ignoring the efforts of the artist.

@MilkySubstance It has NOT gone over my head, I simply recognise the fact that most others miss, that a channel is nothing more than a 7Mhz-wide chunk of spectrum space and is utterly worthless without a STATION to transmit programme content over that channel. Cast your mind back to that old black-and-white, or early colour TV in your parents' or grandparents' house. That big knob that clunked through 13 VHF channels, 0-1-2-3-4-5-5a-6-7-8-9-10-11 but you got clear signals on only 4 of those channels and maybe some grainy images on one or two others(long distance reception of regional STATIONS), and what you knew as commercial TV on Ch.7 in the capital cities, if you went to a regional town, you'd find the ABC instead. The stations did not own the channel on which they transmitted, but it is the STATIONS that made the shows, or provided the facilities for the production of the shows. You go to Newcastle and it will be NBN you'll find on VHF Ch.3(which was nothing more than 85 to 92 Mhz on Band 2) but go to Canberra expecting NBN, instead you'll find the ABC. While the analogue frequencies are gone, it does NOT change the fact that without the station to transmit its programmes on that channel, all you'll get is the wording on your screen "Invalid Channel".

@gracenamba9167 You and others mock me but deep down you know what I'm saying is correct. If Station HSV-Melbourne were to broadcast content which violated its licence conditions, then instead of programme content, the next time you press '7' on your remote control, you'll be greeted with black screen and possibly the words "Invalid Channel", that is, unless the set seeks out the next occupied set of frequencies(which is all that a channel is, at most).

@waynebow-gu7wr The ABC in the 1960s and 1970s was an elitist highbrow broadcasting network that threw a few crumbs of mainstream entertainment our way via shows like you mentioned, but much of their programming back then was aimed at the Point Piper, Vaucluse and Toorak "silvertail" snobs. Thankfully, by the mid-1980s the ABC had largely shaken off that elitist mindset with shows like "The Bill" and "Saturday Night Clive".

@waynebow-gu7wr Clive James actually came from Kogarah. I've only seen that place from the window of the train I rode to or from Loftus when I visited the Tramway Museum there.

@waynebow-gu7wr If you're in Sydney, get on the train at Kogarah(if that's your closest station) then travel one stop past Sutherland. The line you're riding on is the Illawarra line. The Loftus Station is the one you want, getting off at Loftus, you'll see the Sydney Tramway Museum right there in front of you.

As of about 20 minutes ago, my mobile phone(through Aussie Broadband) was able to send and receive SMS(text) messages again, though actual calling and talking to anyone is, for the moment, still a no-go. This is what privatisation of our phone communications system has given us. Our home line, mobile phone and internet system should ALL be run by a SINGLE, NOT-FOR-PROFIT STATUTORY AUTHORITY like the PMG(Post Master General) was in years gone by, until the treasonous act of privatisation by Paul Keating RUINED IT ALL! This is ALL YOUR FAULT, Paul Keating!

Is this "constitutional expert" legitimate? Being a commercial broadcaster, I cannot trust Station ATN's assurances on the bona-fides of the interviewee here. If the ABC or SBS sought his views, his bona-fides would be proven, but, of the commercial stations in Australia today, I can have very little faith beyond my local regional service, Station NBN-Newcastle, which has had its identity usurped by Station TCN-Sydney.
