  1. America continues to insist in courts of law for unanimity(12 votes to nil) in favour of conviction or acquittal in all cases brought before these courts. Australia's court system has learned that it cannot always get such unanimity, so, in Australian courts, if unanimity cannot be reached, then a majority vote to convict or acquit a defendant will be accepted by a presiding judge. This is the method adopted to free up court time for other cases and ensure that cases don't clog up our courts excessively. It's another example of why the Australian judicial system is FAR SUPERIOR to that of America!
