If a name ends in -Stein, like Weinstein or Rosenstein, learn the CORRECT pronunciation. These are German, Austrian or Swiss names, and in such cases when the 'i' and 'e' come together, if 'i' follows 'e', 'i' is the dominant vowel. If 'e' follows 'I', then 'e' is the dominant vowel, thus 'ei' should be pronounced like the 'i' in "dine", and if it's 'ie', then it should be pronounced like 'ee' in "teen". Und wie wisse ich das schon?(and how do I know this already?) Weil hab' ich deutsch gelernt!(because I've learned German!) Okay?
