  2. The comparison sequence proved nothing. Because of the deck, the so-called "crappy" tape sounded just as good as the high-end Metal tape.

  4. Auto-reverse decks don't need to flip the cartridge or the head. They instead use a head with capability to read the four tracks but use a solenoid switch to swap between the tracks for one direction and those for the other, thus eliminating alignment problems.
