Of course you did not mention the VHS system in relation to the much-higher-quality German-developed PAL system which only required 25 frames-per-second and the Euro television CCIR standard which required 7Mhz-wide VHF channels and 8 Mhz-wide UHF. Beta had a head-start on VHS, I remember in 1972 seeing an early Beta-format machine and colour monitor on display(but not working as the shop was short-staffed and no one was available to demonstrate the machine). 1972 was three years before colour TV was introduced to Australia(we adopted the best, the German PAL system, we didn't want to be lumbered with the mediocre NTSC or utterly crappy French SECAM systems) and VHS followed in 1976, 4 years after Beta and 1 year after Colour TV began here.
1
