So nothing to do with WW2 Japan then... And apparently when food aid was released at that time most of it went to the middle class. India has the largest middle class in the world and still hasn't solved it's poverty problem. And I've seen the documented evidence in recent times of warehouse sized piles of sacks of grain going rotten infested with rats because the middle class can't be bothered to manage. Looks to me like the greater tragedy is that India hasn't learned anything other than cling to a class/caste system which instutionalises superiority of some over others and that wasn't inherited from colonialism. How many millions dead over the years because the middle class are so much better than those below them? Here's an idea blame it ALL on Churchill.

thanks to brexit some Brits are now choosing to become German let alone speak it because Britain has become too extreme right wing for their taste and Germany more liberal by comparison. And these are people who recognise Churchill being the right person at the right time during that war. And that is only Germany the applications for citizenship in other nations outside the UK in the EU is rising thanks to the extreme right wing push that brexit is.

And how many lives were saved from slavery and death camps because the concentration camp economy was what awaited losing to the NAZIS?
