  2. What America chooses to forget is that the British nearly wiped out the communist threat in Vietnam. It would have taken some American assistance just after the end of Japan to have achieved that But MacArthur refused because he was more interested in the Grandstanding of Japanese surrender. In fact surrendered Japanese troops were emplyed by the British and used against the Communist forces. By then both the British amd Commonwealth troops and Japanese troops were experienced jungle fighters.
