When a party becomes that which it was set up to oppose it loses in every conceivable way no matter what the result of an election so winning an election is NOT the most important achievement for any Labour leader. Winning at any price just reduces politics to a sport which is a democratic travesty and will put us all back to having only a choice between one neoliberal lead party or another neoliberal lead party or another neoliberal lead party which isn't democracy because political choice is the minimum requirement for any type of democracy. The neoliberal hegemony and failure of the French equivalent of the Labour Party at the hands of neoliberal leadership and consequential piss poor choice at election has resulted in a popular general strike in France. Democracy is in the streets there now. THAT signifies an end to voting against the least wanted party choice at election and a move towards people voting FOR what they want. And neoliberalism is ending one way or another.
