  1. Proportional representation is far superior to first-past-the-post. If only because it is not possible for politicians to select their voters through gerrymandering. Just look at the 2016 disaster in the USA and the 2019 disaster in the UK, both caused by gerrymandering, that elected and gave absolute power to widely unpopular leaders with far less than the majority of the vote. The coalitions necessary in PR systems means democracy is not the Winner Takes All system it is in e.g. the UK and the USA. A PR government is much more likely to do well for all people in the nation.

  2. Considering how much e.g. US senators and UK MPs do for their constituents, local representation seems a bit overrated.
