  1. About soldiers having no initiative in the Russian army: I believe this is a characteristic of armies of dictatorships. Soldier who learn to use their brains may come to different conclusions than their overlords. I expect that if any NATO army were abused like the Russian army, they would have been in full revolt & mutiny right long ago, marching on their capital. I am amazed that the Russian army hasn't revolted yet.
