  1. To prevent nuclear war, NATO was formed with the guarantee of Mutually Assured Destruction to deter any Russian attack. Now that the USA is stepping back from its role as provider of a nuclear umbrella, cowardly letting Russia have its way with Ukraine and one candidate for the presidency proclaiming Russia can also have its way with the European NATO countries, nuclear war is becoming much more likely. As in the Greek tragedies, cowardly trying to prevent something from happening, actually creates the conditions where it does happen. Reagan knew this. He stepped up and courageously stood up to Brezhnev, Andropov (briefly) and Gorbachev. It is unforgivable that the current GOP has become so cowardly -- if not traitorous.
