Apart from upending the Rule of Law and terminating Democracy, this abominable ruling has also given SCOTUS the power to prosecute any president who breaks the law in a way that court does not like. Because SCOTUS has given itself the power to determine what exactly is an official act, on a whim. They refused to give a clear test for determining what is an official act and what is not. That means that should Biden use his powers to remove Trump from the equation, they could rule that to be an unofficial act. But if Trump did the same (as president), they could rule that it would be an official act. This means that Trump can abuse his power with abandon, but Biden can not. Meaning the USA has now a partizan system of (in)justice. Except if Biden removes the 6 radicals from SCOTUS in one fell swoop, and replace them with decent people.

By giving a prosecutor the right to try and prove holding a president to account for breaking the law does not impose on his authority, they have in effect given themselves the right to make that determination. Because in the end, it is the Judge -> i.e. SCOTUS who makes that call, not the prosecutor. And because SCOTUS refused to provide a clear test, they now have considerable freedom to make that call on an individual, case-by-case basis. That means that this immunity applies to presidents whom the court favours, but not to presidents the court does not favour. Details like this make this opinion extremely devious.

  3. In a democracy, there is the rule that no action that would break the Law, can be an official act. Because the Will of the People is crystalized into the Law, and the government is to execute that will, not go against it. A government that moves against the expressed Will of the People has lost its democratic legitimacy. This corrupt SCOTUS has put the Rule of Law on its head and terminated Democracy. It isn't just the worst SCOTUS opinion anytime, it is unprecedented in any democratic country.
