  1. There are some things that should be put in law: 1). A ban on headlines that do not reflect the conclusion of the article. 2). A duty to properly reference sources, with a ban on vague references like "many people say". If referencing a group of people, the size of that group must be explicitly stated. The reference must include whether the person has qualifications relevant to the issue. The reader must be enabled to determine the weight of an opinion. 3). No speculation about ongoing police investigations or court trials. 4). No speculation about science. 5). When discussing scientific fact, do not include opinions from people who are not themselves scientists in the field being discussed. ESPECIALLY from politicians.

  3. Tories have been doing political hit jobs for ever, with the full assistance of their client media and the police. How is that investigation that cost Nicola Sturgeon her job going? Ever going to press charges? No I think not. Because the goal has already been achieved. Voilà, the police being complicit in a political prosecution.

  4.  @stewie7338  If you believe science is not challenged, you know nothing about science. Science subjects itself to BRUTAL challenges. Science has one purpose, the discovery of facts & truth, and needs no government oversight, thank you very much. Science and politics do not mix. Same as for Justice and politics. Justice is also an organisation seeking to establish truth, and must have no political interference. But if you believe that Johnny who does some "research" googling and makes Youtubes in his bedroom is "challenging science", you again have no idea what science is. ANYONE is free to challenge established science using the scientific channels. Those who refuse to use the proper channels know they will be taken apart by true scientists, and instead prey on the ignorant. Remember, science and the scientific method is a LOT older than our democracy, and has managed to deal with corruption a lot better than politics. In fact, science has played a big role in establishing democracy.
