About noises made by Less Trust: these are intended only for UK citizens and hard-line conservatives. In actual discussions with the EU, she is as meek as a lamb. Just like her predecessor. They know and will admit away from the cameras, that there are no alternatives to e.g. the NIP.

@stephenconway2468 "being able to make own laws" And the Tories are hard at work using these "new" privileges to turn the UK into an authoritarian state. They have already taken away the right of peaceful protest and protection against retaliation for whistleblowers (whistleblowers speaking out against the government can now get up to 14 years in prison), cancelled judicial oversight of the government, and are disenfranchising voters likely to vote against them. Also they are planting unprecedented numbers of their supporters in the House of Lords.

Because Brexit was only to get out of the EU. There was no plan for where to go to, with many people wanting to go different directions. There is no unified vision. This is also why NOBODY should have voted for Brexit. Brexiteers refused to specify what their plan after Brexit was, which should have been a red flag. No-one should ever leave a situation without knowing where to go to. People get into a lot of personal trouble for this reason.

There are benefits, just not for the average voters. The ultra-rich in the UK are making oodles of money out of it, and the Conservatives are busy turning the UK into an authoritarian, kleptocratic state. The sheeple that voted for this are in for a lot of hardship. But hey, they knew what they were voting for.

Indeed. And to be granted equivalence assumes a high level of trust...

This person knows nothing at all. The "doomsayers" didn't put a timeline on the demise of the city, so to conclude after 1 year they were wrong is very optimistic. With most policy changes, it takes 4 years to see the full effect. And about equivalence: this is not halted due to the discussions about the NIP, but because the expressed purpose of Brexit was to escape EU financial regulations. The EU wil never give equivalence to the city, it will instead regulate so that eg euro transactions must be cleared inside the euro zone. 2022 and 2023 will see the city gutted.
