  2. As the Art of War says, "build your enemy a golden bridge to retreat over". Apart from not needing to fight to the last man, the enemy will need to spend significant resources to protect the bridge. Putin was very friendly to build his own bridge, so Ukraine doesn't have to.

  3. There is a lot one can philosophize about this war. Strategically, Russia can not win, so the outcome is already certain: a humiliating defeat for Russia. But in the mean time, Russia is doing incredible damage to Ukraine. All we can do is to support Ukraine, and pray for it.

  4. There are no people on earth who understand all aspects of the various power struggles in Russia at this time. Even Putin doesn't understand them all, which he will discover one day -- hopefully soon. He has created an intricate network of corruption, lies, threats, blackmail, intimidation, violence, etc, etc. "A house divided against itself can not stand".

  6. I sincerely doubt there will be a negotiated peace between Ukraine and Russia. Russia has vastly overplayed its hand, and humiliated the western nations by breaking the Minsk agreements. There will be no new Minsk agreement, and as Russia has itself cancelled Minsk 2, this war will end when Russia has retreated back to its pre-2014 borders -- and no sooner. Time is not on Putin's hands. The situation will keep getting harder for Russia, and better for Ukraine, as time progresses.

  8. The simplest explanation for this attack is that it is a false-flag operation by Putin. If this had been an attack by any other group, both daughter and father would be unlikely targets. Putin, however, has been on a murder campaign against potentially dissenting oligarchs & "supporters". And he loves making dramatic events of them as warning to others. There is a very small possibility this was done by some internal rival. But that rival would be extremely dumb to announce his presence in this way, as surely the FSB will hunt him down in no time. If there is plotting against Putin, we will hear nothing off it until Colonel Clumsy has made his fatal move that causes Putin to fall out of the open window or has his accidental discharge.
