  1. Lesson from this all: If you are being mistreated at your work by an individual, go to the police. If the company is mistreating you illegally, sue them. If legally, walk away.

  2. ​ @AnthonyManzio  If the bullying makes you unhappy, my advice is still to walk away. You describe a toxic workplace that is not worthy of you. That manager doesn't deserve you. Just start looking around, there probably is a better opportunity for you somewhere else. You probably have friends / ex-colleagues who moved to different places, ask them how things are. Some of them may even have become managers. There is a world-wide shortage of health workers, so you have the power. Or you could even switch professions! Life is too short to have it spoiled by bullies.

  3. In some cases, HR did help me with some practical issues. But in general, HR is just a front for the management to play the "Bad Cop". I.e. tell you why you can't get a raise, can't get a better working situation, have to comply with IT policies even when they are counter-productive, etc, etc, etc.
