  1. The principle of a Rules-based world order is in agreement with the Bible, the "divine right to rule" is not. The Bible says in Psalms 138:2 that God exalted his Word above all of his Name. That means that even God can not deviate from the rules (the Word) he has specified. In the Bible, when taking about Gods Word that is equivalent with the Law -- a set of rules expressed as words that are binding. If God subjects Himself to the Law, so should all mankind -- including its rulers. NO-ONE is above the Law. Jesus confirmed this interpretation when He said in John 10:35 "Gods Word can not be broken" -- even God can not break the Law (His Word). To abstract these to a "social contract" is fine with me. In the end, it still boils down to the 10 commandments: "do not do murder, do not steal, do not envy, etc, etc", nicely summarized in the Golden Rule: do to others as you would have them do to you (Luke 6:31).
