  1. "A Russian victory is inevitable" That is what people said when they invaded Afghanistan in the eighties. This situation is even worse than that invasion, because unlike the Afghans, Ukraine has a professional well-trained army and have had 8 years of training in dealing with the Russians. Russia has already lost many more soldiers & equipment than in the Afghan invasion.

  2. I thought that Putin would never invade Ukraine, because I knew that the Russian defeat was inevitable. Ukraine is too large for Russia to keep hold of, has too many powerful friends, and its people are too anti-Russian. If Putin managed to install a puppet regime, the leaders of that regime would be assassinated within days, and Russia does not have the manpower to pacify the population. The only option for the Russians would be to genocide the nation, and what would be the point of that. Russia does not have a lack of "lebensraum". And the Russian economy can not sustain a prolonged war, certainly not in the face of heavy sanctions. There are too few young people in Russia, and I already knew that the Russian air force is a paper tiger.

  3. I STRONGLY disagree with the idea that Zelensky should have massaged Trump more. This wasn't about that moment. This was about Trump getting even for not investigating Biden in 2018. Also, I believe Trump planned to put a different deal in front of Zelensky than what they had discussed earlier. For one, Trump called it a PEACE deal -- while it was intended to be a TRADE deal.
