  3. On paper, the SU-57 is a good plane. But, if it really is so good, why isn't Russia demonstrating it now in Ukraine? Afraid the Ukrainians will shoot the prototype down, eh?

  4. It is because Obama expected there never again would be a war needing a dedicated air superiority fighter, but rather bomb and missile trucks that can also hold their own in air-to-air battle. I.e. the F35. Much more versatile than the F22. And there has been nothing to prove Obama wrong, except perhaps the growing Chinese army. But design efforts for the 6th-gen fighter are proceeding as planned.

  5. Excellent point. Nowadays, the plane doing the shooting need not be the plane doing the illumination or identification.
