  3. One enormous contribution Napoleon made to the world was the introduction of the SI: the units we all measure in (kilogram, second, meter, ampere, candela, mol and Kelvin). Because he imposed that system on all the nations he conquered, a good part of Europe started using it, and from there it took off. (for Americans disagreeing: the Fahrenheit and the inch are both derived from SI units)
