  1. Themes say nothing about how good a story is. Themes can be brought point by point in a dry lecture or a sermon. Or they can be woven into a good story so subtlety that they are conveyed unconsciously, and one needs serious thought to recognise them. Yet a good story leaves you changed from the inside. The clearer the themes, the worse a story.
