 @MariusWales That is not what feminism is about. It has always been about women being better than men. Most women hate feminists as well, shows you how representative they are for the sex.

@WallKenshiro The movements you refer to are called, first, the suffrage movement, then the emancipation movement. Feminism proper has always been aggressively anti-men, as can be seen by how men are portrayed in feminist movies like this one. This movement isn't very old, by the way, starting in the seventies. Feminists do a lot of window dressing and gaslighting, and they try to take credit for the older pro-women movements, but at its core feminism is anti-men. I am all for equal rights and emancipation, but bashing men is not the answer to inequality.

@WallKenshiro "feminists in the sense of how we're supposed to understand the term now" That is what I mean with the gaslighting / retconning going on in e.g. the wikipedia page on Feminism. Women who labeled themselves as feminists that I spoke with since the eighties, were invariably hostile to men. And women who fought for equal rights (or human rights in general) usually made a point to distance themselves from feminists, considering them too extreme.
