  1. Sadly, this war was started to divert negative attention from the domestic situation inside Russia that would have put pressure on Putin to improve the economy. Like many dictators before him, he thought that pressure would go away when he created an external threat and dealt with it forcefully. We are seeing the dying spasms of the Putin dictatorship. Pray for the Russians that they will have a good government when the dust settles.
