  1. 10:00: saying that the Pound was more solid than e.g. the Deutsch Mark is absurd. The Pound had been slipping compared to the DM for decades, loosing a third of its value between 1988 and 1993. In fact, the DM was probably the most stable currency in the world, even more stable than the Dutch Guilder, and way more stable than the Pound or the Dollar.
