Ruzzians are discovering how much of a fight a person will put up when knowing someone is out to kill him, and destroy his home, his city and his country. It is a whole lot more than a person who doesn't know why he is there and is sent out with the barest of supplies to be shredded by cannon fire.

@ringrabat Exactly. Putin doesn't mind sending hundreds of thousands to early graves in order to save his own skin. But surely this can not go on. Russia is being destroyed both on the battlefield and domestically by the sanctions. Europe may be heading for a tough winter, but those Russians will be truly suffering.

@davisworth5114 A soldier has many options. He can mutiny, he can surrender at first contact, he can desert, he can rebel. If I understand correctly, because Russia refuses to call this a real war, soldiers do have some rights to refuse orders, with only light consequences (prison time). But it seems these soldiers are not aware of that, or they do not trust Russia to abide by its own Laws.
