  1. Also, Russia is a very backward country. Many of the weapon systems they now use were actually developed in Ukraine, which was the industrial and R&D base of the Soviet union. They used to say that Russia proper was the brawn and Ukraine was the brains of the Soviet Union. Decades of under-investment have hollowed out the educational system that they had, with all available funds being channeled to the kleptocratic oligarchs. Russia has bitten off more than it can chew. It will choke on Ukraine, and it will cause the Russian federation to fall apart. Separated from Russia, each people-group can then find their own path to peace and prosperity.
