The Tories have been very successful in convincing the Brits that it are the forinners who want to take away their cookie, while in actual fact it are the wealthy Britons who have hoarded all the cookies and refuse to share more with the common man. A good regulatory framework where workers on British projects must comply with British law with regards to pay, hours, qualifications etc would have gone a long way in preventing the situation you describe. But then the oil companies would have had to pay a bit more....

  2. Brexit was a con. A terrible con wherein the British citizens were duped into yielding their rights & freedoms to a group of extremely rich people who want a return of the 19th century. And they will have it. They could have read a bit of Dickens to see how life was for the common man in the 19th century, but I guess a burnt hand is the best teacher. Incidently, @thehistorysquad recently did a (sometimes a bit gruesome) video that highlighted life for the lower class in the 19th century. It was the item about Jack the Ripper. People having to choose between a bit of food or a place to sit so they can rest. Absolutely appalling. And that is what those dear Tories want for a large part of the UK: extreme poverty.
