  1. The EU is being lenient because it knows Brexit itself will destroy the UK. Especially the new financial regulations coming into action mid 2024. Sadly, the next government will see the impact of that, but that will decimate the UK economy. The EU wants to be there to help the UK (or rather, England) when they are ready to accept help.
