I can understand them alright. They have bought the lie and allowed government and media to blame the EU for everything without accepting any responsibility for decades. The NHS getting less funding? THE EU DID IT! Foodbanks popping up everywhere? THE EU MADE IT NECESSARY! Granny broke her toenail? THE EU DID IT! Now they will discover the truth of the matter the hard way, in the University of Hard Knocks. VERY hard knocks. The Idiots.

@richardmetcalfe920 "for a decade if not longer" I saw it happening three decades ago when I lived in the UK, and it has probably been going from even before the UK joined the EU.

It is an illustration of the principle "Repeat a lie often enough and people will believe it". The lie being that the UK has enemies. It does not. The UK was the most respected and most pampered member of the EU, with many EU nations feeling a great debt of gratitude for their efforts in WW2, and it nearly always got its way. Yet flocks of sheeple believe the exact opposite. People should have paid more attention to the discrepancy between what the Tories promised, what they actually did when they were in power, and what they said they did.

Selfishness is unconducive to people working together to run a nation. That is why populism always leads to hardship, division and strife. As Bozo is about to discover. <edit>Unless he is able to direct the anger he has fomented at a common enemy...</edit>

@justmythought7658 "where would they stand now" They would be in power now. I have always wondered about Labour's dithering. If there was anything that kept the Tories from completely gutting social democracy, it were the rules & regulations from the EU. In the long run, it will work out fine for Labour (as the Conservative party will not survive Brexit), but at what cost!

@apkk5594 Corbyn was in a position to permanently cancel Brexit, if only he had formed a coalition with the rest of the opposition in summer 2019. He should have swallowed his pride and let anyone else become PM. But instead he wanted to become PM himself and allowed the 2019 GE. So, he pissed away his own political future, the future of the UK, and perhaps even the future of Labour, as their continual weak stance on Brexit will be remembered by the people. Brexit is THE biggest issue in UK politics for the foreseeable future, so not taking a stance on it is absolutely ridiculous.

@saaversteen So, a straight line from Hull to Bristol then? That doesn't leave much...
