  1. The UK is in a right old mess. The Tories are entrenching themselves on their hard stance against unions and strikes, but people have to eat and avoid freezing. And as you rightly point out, the current offer is an effective 6% pay CUT. I.e. even further growth of inequality in the UK. Unlike with coal, the UK can not do without trade. So in the end, the unions will win this fight. The government had better start negotiating.
