  1. Depending on Food imports is also a HUGE economic risk. If, for some reason, the pound devalues, they will still need to import that food, at even greater cost. This can (and likely will) trigger hyper-inflation. The UK government is being extremely reckless, and its citizens will pay the price.

  3.  @gdwnet  Re-enter the Common Market, ASAP! A country that relies on food imports MUST have the best of relations with its neighbours, AND it must have compelling exports even during international crises to balance the trade deficit. Brexit has destroyed both of these prerequisites. If the Tories persist with this course, the UK is doomed. Dreams of the UK making it alone in the world are pure madness. Aggressive nations MUST first be self-sustaining.

  4.  @fba90130  Read a bit about the history of North Korea, before you make such statements. N.K. has lost millions of citizens due to famine. Its inhabitants are little better than slaves who live in constant fear of their oppressors, without most of the modern amenities we take for granted. Is that a future you want for England? And also, North Korea has a good friend in China, which out who it would have collapsed long ago.

  5.  @ulfosterberg9116  The EU has lost patience with the Tories, not the UK. But I agree its situation is very bad indeed. It is on a course to a failed economy, but that will take some years. Sadly, the Tories will be allowed to destroy the country for a at least a few more years. Hopefully the voters will have come to their senses by the next election, but then it will take decades to clean up their mess, with things getting worse before they improve. I hope the voters will denounce the Tabloid press and the Tories who caused these problems, and accept radical change. But I am afraid they will continue to let themselves be brainwashed, and that the Tories will destroy democracy to create a Russia-like dictatorship. 2019 may have been the last open election the UK has had.
